Urgent care is a quicker and less expensive alternative to the ER. An urgent care center is used for patients with sudden medical conditions that require treatment usually within 24 hours. When experiencing a non-life threatening situation, a patient can receive treatment at Western New York Immediate Care, rather than seeking treatment at an emergency room.
If the patient is in a life-threatening situation, please call 911 right away for care.
With urgent medical issues, time counts. Look for an urgent care within 5-10 miles if possible. The quickest way to locate the nearest urgent care center is to turn on your smartphone’s GPS and Google “urgent care near me.”
Western New York Immediate Care has four convenient locations throughout Western New York. We are located in Amherst, Buffalo, Cheektowaga, and Orchard Park. Each location has highly qualified and caring physicians, physician assistants and staff ready to treat you and your family. No appointment necessary!
You do not need an appointment to visit any of the Western New York Immediate Care sites. Walk-ins are welcome!
For your convenience HOLD MY SPOT helps you choose a location and time to come in that fits your schedule. Holding your spot in line is not an appointment; the time you choose is our best estimate of when you will be seen once you arrive and complete registration. A walk-in patient with a critical condition could delay your requested time. Being ill or injured is not convenient, but we are. Our caring staff is ready to help you feel better!
The length of your stay will vary by urgent care. Most urgent care centers have information about wait times & treatment times on their websites, and you can call to get a time estimate.
At Western New York Immediate Care, most patients are treated and released in about an hour. However, visit times vary depending on the number of patients at the center and the severity of their injuries or illness.
Western New York Immediate Care centers are staffed by physicians who are skilled in the treatment of non-life-threatening injuries and illnesses. Many physicians practice in local emergency rooms.
Most insurances do cover urgent care visits. The question is whether an urgent care center accepts your particular insurance.
Accepted insurances vary between urgent cares. At Western New York Immediate Care, we do accept most major insurances. View our full list of accepted insurances here.
If your insurance company is not listed here, we are not under contract with them. However, you can come in for care on a fee-for-service (self-pay) basis. If you have any questions, please contact our office for assistance.
Not all urgent cares offer occupational health services. If they do, there will be information on their website, so check there first.
Western New York Immediate Care offers a full range of occupational medicine services. Whether you need drug screening or care for an employee with a work-related injury, Immediate Care helps employers meet the medical requirements mandated by Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Department of Transportation (DOT), corporate policies, and Federal and state laws.

Some urgent care centers are also equipped with in-house laboratories and diagnostic technologies, and some provide primary care and occupational health services.
Remember that an urgent care center is NOT an emergency room, and you should immediately go to the ER or call 911 if you are having an emergency. Also, unless you are receiving primary care through the urgent care center, you should follow up with your primary care physician to ensure full treatment and recovery.
Immediate Care physicians and staff are trained to diagnose and treat most non-life threatening injuries and illnesses. We provide preventative medicine, routine screenings, immunizations and more to Western New York.
Western New York Immediate Care can stitch up minor injuries.
If you are bleeding profusely, or if the bleeding will not stop, immediately go to the ER.
Western New York Immediate Care is equipped with an in-house laboratory for blood testing for in-house orders only.
