About WNY Immediate Care

WNY Immediate Care was founded in 2005 by local emergency medicine physicians. Today, the practice is managed by TeamHealth, a national healthcare management organization. TeamHealth staffs and manages urgent care facilities with hospital partners throughout the United States. Offices for the national TeamHealth Urgent Care division are located in Amherst, New York.

With four free-standing centers in Buffalo we are the market leader in Western New York caring for more than 125,000 patients each year. Joseph L. Chow, MD

Clinical superiority and patient satisfaction are of utmost concern to Dr. Joseph L. Chow, President, TeamHealth Urgent Care. Dr. Chow leads by example—he consistently receives superior patient satisfaction scores with patients oftentimes citing his compassion and care as a primary reason for their positive experiences at the centers in which he works.

Dr. Chow is board certified in Family Practice. He graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s degree in Biology from the University at Buffalo. He earned his Medical Doctorate from the University at Buffalo School of Medicine in 1997. Dr. Chow completed his residency in Family Medicine at the University at Rochester. He also earned a Master’s of Business Administration from the University at Buffalo in 2014, graduating with Beta Gamma Sigma honors.

Dr. Chow has served as Medical Director and Medical Review Officer for DuPont Industries in Buffalo, NY. He is a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University at Buffalo’s Department of Family Medicine, and precepts medical students at a local volunteer medical clinic. He currently serves on the board of Urgent Care Association.

Shyamal Majithia, MD

Dr. Majithia is a board certified Family Medicine physician who joined the Western New York Immediate Care team in 2017. He has concentrated his efforts on improving quality of care, patient satisfaction, and improving medical outcomes. He believes in the importance of fostering trusting relationships both in the workplace and with patients in his office.

Dr. Majithia attended The University of Western Ontario in Ontario, Canada for his undergraduate studies in Biology and Medical Science, in which, he graduated with honors in 2009. For post-graduation, he attended St. Georges University School of Medicine in Grenada, West Indies, where he earned his medical degree in 2014. Spending the majority of his residency training at Erie County Medical Center, he graduated from University at Buffalo’s Family Medicine Residency Training Program in 2017. During residency, Dr. Majithia was among those recognized as Most Outstanding Resident for his exemplary effort and dedication to patient care. As a result of his work ethic and dedication to improving the residency experience, Dr. Majithia was elected for the role of Chief Resident in his last year by his co-residents and superiors.

Dr. Majithia is board certified in Family Medicine by the American Board of Family Medicine and the College of Family Physicians of Canada. He joined Western New York Immediate Care in 2017 upon completing his residency training. Currently, Dr. Majithia serves as Medical Director, and also works as a staff physician, caring for patients and overseeing all medical care.

As a member of the medical community, Dr. Majithia is an associate of the American Academy of Family Physicians and College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.
